Chocolate can be extremely toxic to dogs, because it contains “theobromine”, which cannot be metabolized by dogs.
25 g of unsweetened (baker’s) chocolate would be enough to bring out symptoms of toxicity in a 20 kg dog.
Clinical signs of toxication usually occur within 6 – 12 hours. If your dog ingests chocolate, call your vet immediately.
